On Google Earth, details on the map include trailhead directions, trail difficulty rankings, and paragraph descriptions of interesting sights. They are not only dedicated to hiking but are also suitable for running, biking and backpacking as well. With an entire viewing layer courtesy of Backpacker Magazine and Trimble Outdoors, you can access GPS-marked trails. Not only did the mapping service transition from the desktop to mobile, but there’s also an addition of a lot of functional features like how to find hiking trails. Google Earth is soon to turn 20 years old, having evolved in strides and milestones, especially during the last decade.
